INTRODUCTION
Goals: Since the first version in December 2007 quite a bit of family history information has been accumulated. The first goal back then had been to organize all of it into a user-friendly format that the whole family could use. The second goal had been to have a format that can grow as the project continues into future years and with future generations. The third goal had been to actually get all the information accumulated out to family by January 1, 2008, as sort of a Christmas/New Years gift. All of those goals were met. RCW passed away in December of 2011. The goal this year is to not only have a CD but a hard copy of the work completed to hand to members of the family in December of 2015. As always your comments, suggestions, and questions will help tremendously with this ongoing project.
Vision: The purpose or vision behind The 2015 Chalet Eagle Family History Project (hereafter abbreviated 2015-CEFHP) is as before, to first and foremost honor the God who created us and brought us together in a very special way as family. Secondly, this project has been initiated to honor those who have gone through the paths of life before us, and have passed on to eternity, our ancestors. We honor them and their respective legacies. Thirdly, this project is to honor those in the present life, those who are now living, who have not only accomplished much on our behalf but also for their communities and the world as a whole. This is one way of our saying, Thank You. Last, but certainly not least, this project is one of our legacies to those who will join this family in the future, either by birth, marriage, adoption, etc. To those yet to come we challenge you to continue with this project, in whatever way that you can, so that those who will follow you, your descendants and ours, will also have this family history to learn from in times of need and in times of plenty. For one philosopher has written, "History repeats itself. It has to. Nobody listens." Whereas history has proven these words very true time and time again, there are also other words that we may choose to listen to even more, which include the following:
Remember your leaders, those who taught you about God. Consider the outcome of their lives, and imitate their faith. Hebrews 13:7.
One general application to this verse from God's Word could be that whether we all believe it or not, we are ALL created in the image of God. Therefore each one of us as human beings - from the past, present, and future - are leaders who teach others about God. In some instances we may learn from others the things that we should NOT do in our own lives. But thankfully, through the mercy and grace of God, we also learn from others what we SHOULD do and continue to do. It is this latter purpose that is the primary motivation behind this on-going project.
Family: There will be certain members of the family who will receive the 2015 version of this project. There are four family histories that have come together in a unique way. The names are listed on the Home Page for this project. How they came together is shown on the Project Tree. There are six brothers and sisters who are shown at the bottom of the tree. This project is the gift of one brother to the other five siblings and their families. What you do with it is up to you.
Also, for the 2015 version, mention is being made from the outset that this project is not just for the six brothers and sisters who are shown at the bottom of the tree. It is also for the wider family, the aunts and uncles, the cousins, and even family to which we may all not be too close. We are spread out all over the world, but that fact does not make us any less of a family. It only increases our appreciation for the God who put us here on this earth for a purpose, His purpose. We must never forget that. Our purpose here on earth is to bring honor and glory to Him and to enjoy Him forever. Amen.
There are still four parents shown above their children on the main family tree. This project is still but one way of perhaps listening and doing what all of us have been taught by these words: "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother (which is the first commandment with promise), that it may be well with you, and that you may live long on the earth." (Ephesians 6:1-3) So this will continue to be a gift as well for them and the parents of the greater family described in the previous paragraph.
There are four family lines above those parents. They include many family members that are still with us and who are still trying to teach us what is right and honorable. As family reconnects in many small ways, they too will become part of this project. This project developer is at least one family member who has not spoken with other family members for too long. He has been getting better at it in the last few years but he still has a long way to go. He hopes that in giving this project to them as well that it will be one way in which to apologize for that long overdue letter, phone call, or visit.
Sources: Those who have or will contribute the much needed basic information for each family line of this project will be found in the Sources Section listed on the project Home Page for each separate family history.
Staff: For this version, as before, the following individual is the primary staff person for the project. As others volunteer they will be included in this listing or the Sources Section as they prefer.
A Work in Progress: It should be noted at this point that this is a project in progress even for this 2015 version. It is being put out here now, on the internet, so that family members can provide additional information that will make this version more complete than the last. The project at the present time is centered around the WINGER family tree. The other family trees will have more work done to them. But there is an emphasis this particular year on what is fast developing as a bigger project that is getting closer to the original title The Wingers of Oil City, Pennsylvania. So that is where the primary focus is right now and that tree should be looked at first.
