Swiss L'Abri Map

Information about the map is below it.

The dark blue rectangle on the lower center right of the map identifies the Swiss L'Abri area. You will find Huemoz to the left of Villars-sur-Ollon.

Chesieres, between Huemoz and Villars, is where Chalet Chardonet was when all the pictures on these pages were taken in 1978. This was where the Schaeffers lived up until their move to Rochester, Minnesota. Before Chalet Chardonet they had lived in Chalet Les Melezes since the beginning in 1955.

Below Villars, at the end of the yellow-colored road, you will find Gryon. This is where Udo and Deborah Middelmann have their summer lecture series in conjunction with their work as the leaders of The Francis Schaeffer Foundation. As of this 2006 update, Edith Schaeffer lives in Gryon as well.

At the bottom left of the map you will find Champery which is where the Schaeffers lived before they moved to Huemoz. The story of Champery is a very integral part of the history of the L'Abri ministry.

Then right beside Champery you see the mountain range called Dents du Midi (French for "the teeth" because they look very jagged). These are the mountains you see from Huemoz all the time.
