On the left: In case you ever had to do a fast roll call, like during an alert, you needed all the names in alphabetical order. On the right: After a sapper attack on the hospital barracks we were required to post guards outside each hooch during the night. I was in charge of making sure that happened. These were the courses I was planning to take when I got out of the Army after Vietnam.  I wanted to become a mechanical engineer. I did get many of the general education courses done in junior college back home. But then life took me in a different direction entirely.  Getting an undergraduate degree finally did happen, but it was twenty-five years later (May 1995) and the degree was in Bible Ministries not engineering.  I was hired full-time in July 1995 by the school from which I graduated. This is my fifteenth year at this second career and guess what? My job is in the "Shop Office" of the Physical Plant Department. I'm back in the Maintenance field again, forty years after Vietnam and the 560th. It's a good life.
